Musica Orbis Gloria 2026: Last spots available
Registration is still open for the autumn edition of Musica Orbis Gloria, one of Prague's most welcoming international choir festivals. Choirs from Estonia, Greece, Poland, Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have already confirmed their participation — and a handful of spots remain for ensembles who would like to join them.
A weekend where music brings people together
Musica Orbis Gloria is built around a simple idea: that choirs from different countries, when they share a stage, a meal and a city together, leave as something more than competitors. They leave as friends.
Over three days in autumn Prague, participating ensembles will sing together, perform for each other and share the kind of moments that are difficult to recreate anywhere else. Past participants have described the festival as Marvellous, Magical and Fantastic — and when we asked what they remembered most, almost none of them mentioned winning. They mentioned the music they made together.
The programme: three days, three extraordinary venues
The festival opens on Friday evening with a concert at the Church of St. Salvator in the heart of Prague's Old Town. It is a beautiful and atmospheric space, and the opening night sets the tone for the whole weekend: warm, musical and full of the energy that comes from many ensembles gathering in one place for the first time.
Saturday is Competition Day, held at HAMU, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Choirs and orchestras perform in front of an international jury in one of the city's finest concert halls, receiving detailed feedback that helps every ensemble grow. The standard of the competition is high, but the atmosphere remains friendly and supportive throughout.
Sunday brings the most unforgettable moments of the weekend. Participating choirs accompany the morning Mass at St. Vitus Cathedral, one of the greatest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, where the acoustics transform every voice into something extraordinary. To sing inside St. Vitus is an experience that stays with performers long after they return home.
The festival closes with an evening boat trip on the Vltava river. With Prague Castle lit up above the water and the company of singers from six different countries, it is the kind of evening that turns acquaintances into friends. Choirs sing together spontaneously, swap contacts and make plans to meet again — at the next edition, or somewhere else entirely.
Autumn in Prague
October and November bring some of Prague's most beautiful days. The city's medieval streets, baroque palaces and riverside promenades take on a particular quality in autumn light — golden, quiet and unhurried. For visiting choirs, Prague is not just a backdrop but a part of the experience itself. The city's musical heritage runs deep, and its concert venues and sacred spaces carry a weight of history that gives every performance an added dimension.
