Musica Orbis Prague Festival 2026: Results, Winners and Four Days of Music from Nine Countries

 

The international music festival Musica Orbis Prague Festival 2026 has announced its winners. This summer edition of the prestigious choir and orchestra competition took place in Prague from 9 to 12 July 2026, bringing choirs, children's choirs and youth orchestras from nine countries to the Czech capital. The awards ceremony was held on 12 July at the National House of Vinohrady, where the names of this year's laureates were revealed after four days filled with classical music, folklore and contemporary repertoire.

Grand Prix 2026: Germany and Taiwan

The festival's highest honours, the Grand Prix awards, go to two exceptional ensembles:

The Grand Prix in the choir competition was awarded to the Maulbronn Chamber Choir from Germany, which impressed the international jury with its refined chamber sound and a commanding performance in the mixed choir category.

The Grand Prix in the orchestra competition belongs to the Taipei Municipal DunHua Junior High School String Orchestra from Taiwan, whose string players confirmed the outstanding level of Asian youth ensembles.

Choir Competition Results: Gold, Silver and Bronze Bands

The choral part of the international competition featured performances across categories ranging from children's choirs to chamber and folklore ensembles.

Gold band:

  • Estonian Television Children's Choir (Estonia), categories A1 and C1
  • Maulbronn Chamber Choir (Germany), category A2
  • Ghent University Choir (Belgium), category A2
  • Miriam College High School Glee Club (Philippines), categories A6 and B6

Silver band:

  • Mixed Choir Saluto (Lithuania), category A2
  • Ensemble Sonamento (Germany), category A4

Bronze band:

  • Prima Choral Artists (United Kingdom), category C3

Orchestra Competition Results

Youth orchestras from three continents competed in the orchestral categories E, F and G.

Gold band:

  • Amadeus Children and Youth Orchestra (Kosovo), category E2
  • Taipei Municipal DunHua Junior High School String Orchestra (Taiwan), category F2

Silver band:

  • Mazer Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (Taiwan), category F1
  • Guitares & Co (France), category G5

Special Jury Prizes

The international jury also presented a number of special awards celebrating the unique artistic achievements of this year's edition:

  • Best folk performance: Estonian Television Children's Choir
  • Excellence in choral sound: Miriam College High School Glee Club
  • Special jury award, free registration for the Barcelona festival: Ghent University Choir
  • Best performance of Dvořák's Hostina: Ensemble Sonamento
  • Best programming: Mazer Philharmonic Youth Orchestra
  • Viola da gamba soloist award: Guitares & Co
  • Violin soloist award: Amadeus Children and Youth Orchestra
  • Most enthusiastic performer, second chair of the first violins: Amadeus Children and Youth Orchestra

A Festival That Connects the World Through Music

Musica Orbis Prague Festival ranks among the most important international music festivals in Prague and Central Europe. This year's edition confirmed that Prague remains a top destination for choir and orchestra travel: four festival days, nine countries, a packed Mayakovsky Hall and an atmosphere that participants remember long after returning home.
